Sun Peaks: A Standout Mountain Golf Experience

Teeing off in the mountains creates a truly unique golf experience. At Sun Peaks Golf Course, every hole is shaped by natural terrain, framed by expansive alpine views and crisp mountain air.  Pine tree-lined fairways and dramatic elevation changes make each round both scenic and strategic.

Set adjacent to Sun Peaks Village, this 18-hole, par 72 layout designed by Graham Cooke plays like “two courses in one.” At 1,200 meters in elevation — the highest course in British Columbia — it’s typically about 10 °C cooler than the valley below, for comfortable summer play and refreshing mountain conditions.

The Sun Peaks Golf Course Experience

Front Nine – The “Tight” Side

Built in 1996, the front nine features narrow, tree-lined fairways that reward precision. Many players prefer irons over drivers here, embracing target golf and thoughtful course management. The scent of pine and the gentle mountain breeze make every shot memorable.

Back Nine – The “Open” Side

Completed in 2005, the back nine opens into wider fairways with long sightlines, giving confident hitters room to stretch out. Elevated tees and natural contours allow golfers to feel the mountain beneath their feet and take in panoramic vistas with every swing.

Signature & Challenging Holes

• Hole 16 (Signature) – A short par 4 with BC’s highest tee box at 1,333 m. From an elevated deck roughly 40 ft above the landing area, players face a true risk-reward decision: lay up safely or attack the green.

• Hole 6 – The most difficult on the front nine, this uphill 460-meter par 5 tests both strategy and stamina.

• Hole 12 – A dogleg right on the back nine, rewarding two well-placed shots before a challenging approach to the green.

Course & Village Amenities

Practice facilities include hitting nets and a putting green near the first tee. On-course refreshments are available at the Hole 1 Kiosk and Umbrella Café, while a roving refreshment cart circles the course in search of thirsty golfers.

After your round of golf, enjoy a round of drinks in Sun Peaks Village, where the course starts and ends, and choose from a wide variety of pre- or post-round meals and refreshments. Power carts are available at check-in, making the hilly terrain part of the fun, rather than the challenge.
