In winter the parking area is plowed whenever there is 5cm+ accumulation of snow.
Is Pinetree Chalet child-friendly?
You bet! The house is great for family gatherings.
Tell us a little about your group, and we'll suggest room allocations and family-friendly activities. We'll also stock the movie library with kids' and family favourites. See Comforts for a list of baby and children's items that may be available with prior request.
Please note: A responsible adult must always be present in the same area of the home as the children. We require parents to partner with us in caring for our home, yard, and contents.

Are there winter driving considerations?

What should I expect when accessing the chalet in winter?
Both the Main House and Sugar Pine Suite are accessed via a covered exterior staircase beside the chalet. The covered staircase provides convenient winter access while keeping the stairs clear of snow.
What should I do if I see a bear?
Wildlife, including bears are commonly found in Sun Peaks. Never leave food or garbage outdoors.
Do not approach or feed them.
Keep your distance, when possible, and alert them to your presence by talking loudly in a calm voice, banging pots or other loud noises you can make.
Back away slowly. Do not turn your back, but do not make direct eye contact. Do not run.
Make yourself appear large — put young children on your shoulders; wave your arms.
Do not threaten or challenge the bear. If a bear charges, do not run — it is a sign of weakness — stand your ground.
