There’s something truly special about spring skiing at Sun Peaks. Our family looks forward to a quiet, late-season getaway every year — after the crowds are gone, the snow is still excellent, and it feels like the mountain belongs to us. The village has a calm, welcoming rhythm, and sometimes, we can ski for ten minutes without seeing anyone. It’s a rare kind of mountain serenity that keeps us coming back each year.
By late March and into April, the daylight stretches out longer. With virtually no lift line-ups, we can ski more than ever — run after run, at our own pace. The extra daylight means there’s time for everything, until WE decide we've had enough: a few more runs, a scenic photo stop, or a relaxed mid-mountain lunch before heading back out for more.
Sun Peaks in late season feels like a best-kept secret — reliable snow, room to roam, and a rare chance to enjoy a world-class resort without the crowds (plus a chance to stretch your budget).
The newly opened West Bowl on Tod Mountain became our new family favourite last ski season. Sitting at a higher elevation, it offers consistent snow and exceptional conditions right to the end of the ski season. The runs are well-groomed, perfectly pitched, and offer panoramic views that stretch across the valley.
Every turn was a treat — the snow under your skis, the crisp air, and a fabulous selection of runs to explore for all ability levels. It became our go-to for the whole family.
While the intermediate skiers turned left for more West Bowl fun, the advanced skiers in our group decided to turn right and hike up to Gils, the off-piste area known for its challenging terrain and incredible snow. It took much less effort than expected, and the payoff was unbeatable — untouched snow and that exhilarating feeling of earning each turn.
They came back with glowing reports. Since it was the last day of the season, they're already excited to add more 'Gils days' to their future plans.
For me, spring skiing is reminiscent of sunny days, heavy snow, and maybe spotting some brave souls sin their swimsuits. While the new West Bowl gave me a new perspective on spring skiing, even into April, ski-out access was still good. The heavier snow coverage went right to the house, and it felt so good to finish a long day on the slopes and ski straight to our door.
We stayed right through to the end of the season — and honestly wished it could have gone on longer. The mountains still felt ready for more, even if the lifts had called it a wrap.
When the lifts finally stopped spinning, we weren’t ready to leave the snow behind. We traded our skis for snowshoes and joined the non-skiers in exploring the mountain and village trails. It’s a quieter, more reflective way to experience Sun Peaks — the stillness of forest trails, the crunch of snow underfoot, and the same mountain beauty, but from a different perspective.
For those of us that can't get enough, it’s a great way to extend the snow season a little longer and enjoy the mountains at a slower pace.
For us, the late ski-season experience at Sun Peaks is perfectly matched by staying at Pinetree Chalet. It checks every box for a seamless, comfortable, and memorable ski trip — especially for families or groups visiting in the spring.
At the end of the day, being able to ski right to your doorstep is a special treat, especially in late season when you want to squeeze the most out of each remaining day. Pinetree Chalet offers genuine ski-in (and easy ski-out) access from the slopes of Tod Mountain, so there’s no trudging through wet snow or waiting for shuttles. You simply glide home, unclip your skis, and let the relaxation commence.
Everyone can come and go at their own pace, whether they’re squeezing in a few extra runs or heading in early for a hot tub soak and watching the others return home.
The heart of Pinetree Chalet is the Great Room, with 20-foot windows framing the panoramic mountain views. After a day on the slopes, everyone naturally gathers here — by the fire, around the massive table, or in the family room nook.
It’s perfect for shared meals and planning the next day’s runs while watching the sunset reflect off the peaks. Take a short walk to Sun Peaks Village with easy access to shops, spa and restaurants. Add in some private time in the hot tub under the trees, and it’s the perfect mountain ending to a perfect ski day.
Late-season trips at Sun Peaks often include a mix of high-energy ski days and slower-paced evenings, and Pinetree Chalet suits that rhythm perfectly. With spacious living areas, multiple lounging spaces, and cozy bedrooms, everyone can enjoy their own pace — whether that’s skiing or boarding, snowshoeing, or simply watching the mountain views from the deck.
The chalet comfortably sleeps up to 16 guests in up to 7 sleeping areas and 6 full washrooms, with flexible configurations that make it ideal for family groups. Start by booking the 4-bedroom Main House, and choose to add the Sugar Pine Suite and/or Lodgepole Hideaway.
The setup gives you total flexibility to fit your group perfectly. Each space is thoughtfully designed, offering privacy when needed and open gathering areas when everyone comes together.

One of the perks of visiting Sun Peaks at the tail end of the season is the excellent value. With fewer crowds and the season winding down, Pinetree Chalet offers special late-season rates. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy a slope-side stay without the peak-season price tag. You get all the same adventures, comfort, conveniences, and mountain magic, at a great deal — a win-win for families, groups, or anyone looking to get the most from their ski getaway budget.
Late ski-season has become our favourite time of year at Sun Peaks. The quiet slopes, extended daylight, warmer days and relaxed mountain vibe give us our best ski memories. That being said, our annual trip won’t work out for the 2026 season — we need to be back home to lead worship at our church over the Easter period. While we’ll be missing out this time, we’re genuinely excited to see you take advantage of this perfect window for spring skiing.
In 2026, with the season at Sun Peaks wrapping up on April 6, the timing aligns perfectly with the Easter extra-long weekend, making it an ideal opportunity for a late‑season escape... and at discounted rates.
